Does Second Life have artificial intelligence?
Yes, researchers from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute have
created an avatar with artificial intelligence.
Does Google have a virtual environment?
It did. In July of 2008, Google introduced
Lively which was a web-based virtual environment.
It was discontinued in November of 2008.
A group of ex-Lively users have created a spin-off called
Newlively.
Can we install Second Life locally?
Not yet. Linden Lab, the company that runs Second Life, created a
stand-alone version of Second Life that can be installed on our servers,
however this version of the software is in beta and is currently being
tested by
CWRU and NMC.
Are there other virtual environments that we can install locally?
Yes. Both OpenSim and Immersive Spaces can be installed and managed locally.
Where can I buy pre-built objects?
Instead of building objects yourself, you can buy objects that were built by others.
